Greenlight Laser
The GreenLight PVP™ procedure (photoselective vaporisation of the prostate), also called high power KTP laser vaporisation (potassium titanyl phosphate) uses a patented, high power Greenlight laser to remove the enlarged prostate tissue endoscopically (through the urethra).
The GreenLight PV™ laser system quickly vaporises the restricting, excess prostate tissue, removing the tissue precisely and with almost no bleeding.
In contrast to other laser procedures, GreenLight PVP™ immediately removes obstructive tissue, thus, providing relief from bladder symptoms and dramatically re-establishes one's natural urinary stream. In many cases, patients can pass urine immediately without a catheter and can be released from hospital after a few hours. The recuperative periods are short and almost pain free. Within a week, most patients return to work and their daily routines, if they avoid strenuous activities during this time.
Urologic scientists at the MAYO Clinic in Rochester, USA, developed KTP laser vaporisation . The MAYO Clinic is one the world's best medical clinics. Physicians who have been trained there, and patients treated at the MAYO Clinic highly praise the clinic's scientific and medical quality and professionalism. The MAYO Clinic is associated with advances in medicine.
Professor Reza Malek and his team, in co-operation with Laserscope®, developed this groundbreaking method for the minimal invasive treatment of BPH. After over 5 years of research, the team was able to present laser therapy technology for the widest patient selection that overshadows all other methods. A technological breakthrough for the benefit of a large number of BPH patients. GreenLight PVP™ has proven itself to be safe, effective and long lasting at many leading medical centres in the USA.
Thousands of patients have been treated successfully with the Greenlight Laser System.
